When abnormal cells in the pancreas develop and divide out of control, they create a tumor, which is called pancreatic cancer. The pancreas is a gland positioned between the stomach and the spine in the abdomen. It produces enzymes that aid digestion as well as hormones that regulate blood sugar levels. In pancreatic cancer, cells divide to generate new cells when the body requires them. Cells die as they age and are replaced by new cells and sometimes this procedure can occasionally break.
